This Privacy Policy explains how AI Daily & News (the "Service"), operated by Jacksen ("we", "us"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We take privacy seriously and collect only what is necessary to deliver the Service.

1. Information We Collect

• Email address — required for account creation and delivery.
• Subscription state — verification status, trial start date, paid plan status, unsubscribe status.
• Timestamps — account creation, verification, unsubscribe events.
• Technical logs — server logs from AWS may temporarily record IP address and request metadata for security and debugging.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, location data, or browsing behavior. We do not use tracking cookies on our landing page.

2. How We Use Information

• To deliver the daily briefing email.
• To manage your account (verification, trial, subscription, cancellation).
• To process payment for the Pro subscription through a third-party processor (Stripe, once integrated).
• To respond to support requests.
• To comply with legal obligations under Japanese law.

3. Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, in encrypted S3 buckets. All transfers use HTTPS/TLS. Access is restricted to the operator.

4. Third Parties

We share the minimum data necessary with:

• Amazon SES — to deliver emails to your inbox (receives your email address).
• Google Gemini API — to generate the daily editorial summary. Only the public article URLs and titles are sent; no subscriber data is ever transmitted to Gemini.
• Stripe (planned, when Pro billing launches) — to process payments. Stripe handles card data directly; we never see or store payment card details.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe or delete your account, your email address and associated records are deleted within 30 days. Server logs are automatically deleted within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten).
• Withdraw consent by unsubscribing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time, typically within 14 days.

7. Cookies

The landing page does not set tracking or analytics cookies. The Service does not use cross-site tracking. If we introduce analytics in the future, this policy will be updated and you will be notified.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we will delete the account.

9. International Users

If you access the Service from outside Japan, please be aware that your information will be processed in Japan. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Legal Basis (Japan APPI)

We process personal information in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法, APPI) of Japan. The legal basis for processing is the performance of the Service you have subscribed to, and your consent given at signup.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above indicates the latest revision.
